SOLD Red Ammolite Nautilus Pendant
Ammonites are an extinct group of cephalopods that first appeared more than 400 million years ago. These ancient marine animals survived multiple mass extinction events, including the devastating Permian-Triassic event, which wiped out nearly all marine species. They finally disappeared around 66 million years ago during the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction, the same event that ended the age of the dinosaurs.
This one-of-a-kind pendant features a beautifully preserved ammonite fossil with mineralization of the shell to a red ammolite. To bring the fossil to life, the pendant includes a sculpted body and tentacles crafted in silver, inspired by modern cephalopods like the nautilus.
The complete piece is approximately 60mm wide, while the fossil alone measures around 28-30mm. An 18" sterling silver wheat chain is also included.
